    Province invests $3 million in Closed Circuit Cameras for Police

    TORONTO — Today, Premier Doug Ford joined Mayor John Tory to announce funding for new closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras to help police respond to Toronto's recent episodes of gun violence. This investment by the Ontario government will more than double the number of cameras currently operated by the Toronto Police Service.

    Appropriateness Working Group Submits First 11 Recommendations

    Toronto — Following months of collaboration and productive discussions, the Appropriateness Working Group (AWG) has submitted its first 11 recommended updates to tests and procedures that can be replaced with more modern and effective approaches. Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, has accepted these recommendations on behalf of the government. These recommendations were also accepted by the Ontario Medical Association (OMA).

    TORONTO — Today, Ontario's Government for the People announced the cancellation of the outdated Drive Clean program, saving money for Ontario taxpayers and reducing the regulatory burden on Ontario families while enhancing regulations for the biggest polluters on Ontario's roads. Effective April 1, 2019, drivers will no longer be required to get Drive Clean emissions tests for their passenger vehicles.
