Inquest Date into the Death of Darrell Joseph Pitre Announced

Dr. Kenneth Peckham, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Central West Office, announced today that a date has been scheduled for the inquest into the death of Darrell Joseph Pitre.

Mr. Pitre, 42, died in hospital on April 22, 2017, from injuries sustained from a fall on March 3, 2017, at a construction site in Port Carling. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.  

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Pitre's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing future deaths.

The inquest is expected to last five days and hear from approximately 12 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, December 9, 2019, at the Bracebridge Court House, 3 Dominion St. Dr. Mary E. Bourne will preside as inquest coroner and Frank Giordano will be counsel to the coroner.
