Inquest into the Deaths of Floyd Deleary, Justin Thompson and Murray James Davis Announced

Dr. Rick Mann, Regional Supervising Coroner for West Region, London Office, today announced that a joint inquest will be held into the deaths of Floyd Deleary, Justin Thompson and Murray James Davis.

Mr. Deleary, 39, died on Aug. 23, 2015 and Mr. Thompson, 27, died on Oct. 31, 2016 in hospital after transfer from the Elgin Middlesex Detention Centre. Mr. Davis, 24, died on Aug. 17, 2017 while in custody at the same detention centre. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding their deaths. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths

Details regarding the date and location will be provided at a later date when the information becomes available. Dr. David Eden will preside as inquest coroner and Laura Casey and Julian Roy will be counsel to the coroner.
